The perfect weapon "完璧なる兵器"

The Perfect Weapon: War, Sabotage, and Fear in the Cyber Age

H-2B rocket was launched

Japanese Rocket Ferries Supplies to Space Station -NY Times

I have a bachelor of aerospace engineering, and am still interesting to Japanese aerospace development.
According to the article, the Japanese rocket ferries, H-2B, was launched from Tanegashima Island without accident. Now, the US space shuttles have retired. It means the activity of International Space Station (ISS) is depend to other ferries, like Russia , Europe, or Japan.

From the article the budget is about one-fourteenth of what the U.S. After previous economic recession, Japan has not still recovered completely like other countries. The damage also effect to JAXA's budget. There is possibility it decrease more in the near future.
I'm really concerned it.

In this field, there are two major indicators to evaluate aerospace technology in each country, cost and successful rate.
Those effect how the aerospace technology of a country competes.
Unfortunately both are not well. Japanese technology is quite good, but they try to challenge new engine. It means the cost become high. In addition, new technology tend to be unstable before getting enough experiences. There is time-lag before successful rate increases.

Anyway I hope JAXA's next project also continue to be success.

Akira Ikegami VS Michael Sandel

In the last weekly Bunshu, there is a article about discussion between Akira Ikegami and Michael Sandel.

Usually, I don't read this weekly magazine. I don't use train to commute. It means I don't have a opportunity to see the advertisement of those which hung in a commuter train. Today suddenly I get the information about this article.

The article is interesting for me to know humanity side of the professor. The interviewer is one of  great Japanese journalists, so he can ask the professor through "good question."
In the article, they mention the word, "good question."
In the world, there is no "bad question." If you feel that, it means the teacher couldn't lead him or her well. Sometimes, students ask questions based on obscure mean. Good teacher find what they want to ask and know. And the teacher lead them more constructive flow.

His conversational lecture is so impressive for me. Everyone can see it in the internet. It means every teacher and lecture are compared to world best lesson. It nice, but severe.

Anyway tomorrow, I have to take the latter half of mock test. Terrible・・・

How to associate with media

Recently, one of major Japanese newspapers, Asahi Shimbun reported a incidence of a clinical trial in the top page.
The newspaper claimed the delay of report the incidence to other institutions was blunder

Some doctors and association refused the claim, and insisted that the article was not scientific. There are some strain among those doctors and the newspaper.

Media tends to attack authority.
It is easy for media to report confrontation between patients and medical institutions.
It is partly because media can create root for the underdog. It means that viewer can support the patients' side.

Those sensational events tend to become articles.
However, I think media should report daily activities in medicine, How medical staffs do their best to help patients, How patients and medical staffs enhance collaboration with each other, and so.

We should make good relationship with media. We cannot make these good relationship quickly, but usual communication makes it build. I hope so.

Asahi Shimbun Globe Live 2010

I attended Asahi Shimbun Globe Live 2010 in Tokyo today.
My main purpose to attend this event was meeting real Kiyoshi Kurokawa, one of the famous Japanese doctors.

Asahi Shimbun is one of the famous Japanese newspaper. In the paper, there is challenging space Globe.
Globe focuses global issue, break-through, and activities of famous person.

This event was well-made. Main composition is talk live. But in the rest time, we can listen live music. It looked like watching movie.

First discussion was about education. Kiyoshi Kurokawa talked about that. He insisted it is important for the young to go abroad, even if they take a leave of absence from school. He named these activity "the recommendation of taking a leave from school."
It looks like "Gap year"
He thought that making international connection is worth.

Second discussion was about Music & Film-making.
There is common sense of comedy. Asushi Ogata makes comedy film which can get laugh form floor through the world.

Third discussion was about local economy. Steve Yamaguchi talked about it. Steve born in U.S. He studied Japan from his post-graduated. He also worked at one of Japanese companies and married with Japanese. His nationality is Japanese now. He ended building company managed by his father in law in Nigata prefecture. He started his new work, sightseeing.
He tries to make local community develop from center.
He told that local community in Japan have much potential capacity to become good sightseeing spot.

Final discussion was about Business, and Economy.
The world become flat. All events can influence our economy and life. For example, border issue between China and Japan influenced commodity distribution.
There is no language barrier, but only giving a wide berth to the language in our mind.

I could listen live talk from front-runners of Education, Music, Film-making, Business, and Economy. I was inspired so much.
Recently, all newspaper companies are in times of hardships. I think these event is very good idea to make more supporters for newspaper.

From Gaztte

There is like Yoyogi park in Japan. Next to the Olympic stadium, there is huge park.

I've never had a time to read newspaper since the beginning of the last month.
Yesterday it was my first time to buy and read newspaper.

I concerned about the two following articles.

The first one is the title of "Bad medicine."
In the editorial opinion, the author wrote "We have strict rules limiting shift time for pilots and bus drivers; why we are so relaxed about the alertness of medical residents?"
From the side of patients, they want to keep the quality of health care by strict shift time.
How many people know the shift of doctors in Japan?

The second one is "A bonanza for drug makers."
The article point out the problem of DSM (the bible for psychiatry to make a diagnosis).
It made us classified unnecessary psychological diseases. Doctors prescribe more medication. It means drug company earn more.

The quality of articles in newspaper is easily above the Japanese one, which only introduce from other famous newspaper.
Japanese media make so much fuss about an article which called Japanese prime minister "loopy."
Someone said that "the foreign media make us understand essence of the problem, but Japanese media make us get the puzzle"

In my impression, Quebec is under the British influence. They tend to quote British medical journal, like BMJ or Lancet.

I'm looking forward to watch Totem tomorrow. Of course, my seat is the cheapest one.

Yesterday, in my final presentation, I read out "12" as "twenteen." I paid all my attention for the content of the presentation, so I missed to find my mistake of pronunciation.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8370859.stm

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/06/05/japan.herbivore.men/index.html?eref=edition
